Full Job Description

Our Post-Doctoral Psychology Resident conducts individual and group psychotherapy sessions, provides staff education on psychological issues and conducts psychological evaluations and psychological testing. This position is also is an active member of the treatment team.

Education:
  • APA approved doctoral program in clinical or counseling psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.)
  • Ability to provide transcripts and a copy of the doctoral degree by the start date of the residency Completion of an APA-approved or APPIC internship prior to beginning the postdoctoral residency
Experience:
  • Experience with SPMI population is preferred
  • Bilingual preferred, but not required
  • Prior supervision experience preferred
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department
Licenses/Certifications:
  • None required
Responsibilities:
  • Conducts individual and group psychotherapy, and psychoeducational sessions.
  • Provides psychological assessments, as well as psychological evaluations, and quality assurance reviews as required. Serves as a consultant to the multidisciplinary teams.
  • Supervises and trains the psychology students, provides training and education to the rest of the clinical team as needed, serves on committees as indicated by Director of Psychology. Demonstrates knowledge of ethical and related clinical principles.
  • Performs timely, complete, and legible documentation of services provided, consistent with professional standards and hospital procedures.
  • Demonstrates understanding of, and complies with special precautions, disaster and fire safety procedures, assists with finding alternatives to seclusions and restraints, knowledge of abuse reporting. Completion of mandatory training review by Director of Psychology.
  • Is sensitive to cultural diversity issues, treats patient as an individual, and considers the culture of the patient when providing care and treatment. Demonstrates cultural competency in all aspects of duties performed. Attends and successfully completes competency training on an annual basis.
  • Provides ongoing support and ensures staff adheres to organization Code of Conduct.
  • Is knowledgeable about care and treatment needs of patients of different ages. Provides individualized care and treatment that is consistent with sensitive to the age and life span development needs of each patient.
Qualifications:
  • Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
  • Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
  • Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
  • Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
