Student Services Coordinator-JNC

Job Description

This position will provide professional, administrative support necessary to sustain the efficient and effective management to the Jimmy Naifeh Center. This will be accomplished by providing support and guidance to faculty, students, leadership to the student employees, and oversight for the functions scheduled at the Center. This position will maintain close communication with the Dean of the Center.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Support daily operations of the Center.

Assist current and potential students with admissions, records, financial aid, registration and college transition and guidance needs.

Participate in on-going training and updates regarding financial aid, admissions & records and Learning Resource Center offerings.

Complete Master Advisor Training and attend recertification training each year.

Oversee duties of student employees.

Proctor exams, administer surveys and perform evaluations.

Take initiative to enforce DSCC policies.

Conduct emergency drills for Center.

Provide support services to faculty and students.

Assist students in scheduling appointments for advising and testing in Appointments Plus software program.

Assist with planning and completion of college stakeholder events.

Provide job related forms for new instructors and current faculty.

Administer surveys and perform evaluations of classes when applicable.

Assist with conducting drills for the center.

Process key requests for faculty and staff.

Maintain office files that are pertinent to this position.

Provide minimal leadership and support to student organizations when necessary.

Assist with Recruitment & Retention call lists each term for registration processes.

Maintain the JNC calendar/room reservations/event planners.

Complete Facility Use Agreements w/Routing Sheet.

Complete Art Loan Agreements w/Routing Sheet.

Process Journal Vouchers for Dean of the JNC.

Maintain classroom matrix for the JNC.

Serve as a backup cashier in the One-Stop.

Reconcile deposits.

Represent Dyersburg State Community College at community events in the area.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Sedentary: Deskwork; occasional travel may be required for college or program activities; flexible work schedule. Normal range of movement required. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office settings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.

Required Qualifications:

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Leadership ability with high degree of initiative.

Ability to make valid decisions in line with TBR and DSCC policies and procedures.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Working knowledge of standard office equipment to include current computer software applications within a Microsoft Windows environment.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to communicate effectively with internal staff, students, and community stakeholders.

Excellent planning, organizational, customer service, and communication skills.

Minimum Requirements of Education and Experience:

Associate Degree in related area from a regionally accredited institution.

Minimum of two years office experience with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Minimum starting pay is $30,500 annually ($15.65 per hour). With additional experience pay increases to a maximum of $38,100.
