OWN Overview
Our Wild Neighbors (OWN) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned wildlife. OWN also provides educational opportunities to promote wildlife preservation and habitat sustainability. Located in Hillsborough North Carolina, our center serves eastern North Carolina and beyond. In 2021 we have already admitted nearly 2,000 animals representing multiple species of mammals, birds and amphibians. Our Wild Neighbors was formed by volunteer licensed wildlife rehabilitators and is staffed primarily by dedicated volunteers and two wildlife enthusiasts who we employ seasonally. The funds of this organization come solely from private donations; no city, county, state or federal funding is provided.

The Associate Director will
- Manage and Direct all operations of the Wildlife Center, including directing treatments and care for all patients
- Manage the Volunteer and internship programs
- Manage the Centers personnel, including hiring, payroll, development, training, and management of all staff and volunteers
- Manage all necessary state and federal permits while keeping accurate records for all wildlife intakes
- Manage all Inventory, purchase orders, invoices, and billing
- Communicate effectively with the executive director and board members
- Organize and pilot fundraising activities, grant applications, and creating financial reports
- Attend board meetings and committee meetings as needed
- Work with Veterinarians to develop, treat, and enforce all medical policies
- Up hold all safety requirements with proper PPE when dealing with multiple species of wildlife
- Help to manage and oversee all social media activities
Qualifications:
- Associates degree in zoology, biology, or other related field or higher
- Veterinary experience (*Preferred but not required) 1-5 years
- Wildlife experience required 1-5 years
- Management experience 1-5 years
- Experience working in the Non-profit Sector preferred
- Experience with computers including Word, Excel, Powerpoint Etc.
- Experience in administrative functions such as budgeting and reporting
Schedule:
Full-time, year round salaried position
Compensation: Starting range of $40,000 - $45,000 salary. Salary is commensurate with experience
