Salary: £29,391 - £40,134 (under review)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) as a lecturer in agricultural engineering. We are looking for an experienced engineer within the agricultural sector, ideally, with a background in delivering training on modern agricultural equipment or experience servicing and repairing modern agricultural machinery or equipment from a similar sector.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual who will help consolidate and grow SRUC’s engineering education and training provision at our Oatridge Campus. Experience in teaching would be advantageous however, it would not be deemed essential as full teacher training will be offered.

An attractive remuneration package, pension and holiday entitlement (60 days) will be offered to the successful candidate.
The successful candidates will have proven skills in the service, maintenance, diagnostics and repair of agricultural machinery, including harvesting equipment. They will be qualified to at least SCQF level 6 (equivalent level 3 in England) in land based engineering or a similar sector and have attended manufacturer training programmes.


Key duties and Responsibilities:
• Preparation of learning materials
• Delivering programmes of education, training and assessment, including a wide range of practical skills to a high standard or workmanship as well as classroom teaching to appropriate academic standards
• Conducting student assessment in accordance with Awarding Body standards
• Maintaining appropriate records of teaching and assessment
• Maintaining appropriate records of attendance
• Provision of educational guidance, counselling and tutorials as required
• Engaging in the quality assurance of all engineering programmes
• Attending internal and external meetings as required
• Maintaining appropriate liaison with the land-based industries
• Updating of personal skills and qualifications
