We are seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer with a research specialism in the psychology of child and adolescent development. The successful candidate will contribute to our undergraduate and postgraduate portfolio including our MSc Child and Adolescent Psychology.

The School of Human Sciences is located in the recently refurbished Dreadnought building on the World Heritage site at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich. Its bespoke new laboratory facilities is part of significant investment in the School and part of a long-term plan to build internationally leading research and teaching in the Faculty. As part of this investment, we are looking to appoint dynamic and engaged colleagues to help grow and develop the School.

You will be joining a School and Faculty that is building a strong interdisciplinary and cross-professional approach to solving the grand challenges facing society. We are looking for colleagues who will have a commitment to maintaining and building the University’s excellence in teaching and learning, and who are doing research that has the potential for significant long-term academic and societal impact.

We welcome applications from individuals with an interest in any area of Psychology. This reflects our already strong coverage of core curriculum areas and clear research interest groups. As a Faculty we also welcome candidates whose research work will resonate with one or more new interdisciplinary Faculty Research Centres within the newly formed Institute for Lifecourse Development:

  • Centre for Chronic Disease and Ageing
  • Centre for Exercise Activity and Rehabilitation
  • Centre for Inequalities
  • Centre for Mental Health
  • Centre for Professional Workforce Development
  • Centre for Thinking and Learning
  • Centre for Vulnerable Children and Families

The School has an active and growing research base. We anticipate a strong performance in REF2021 and beyond. The University is currently rated TEF silver, reflecting our excellent teaching and learning, and we have realistic aspirations to achieve a TEF rating of ‘gold’ in any forthcoming assessment exercise.

We are looking to recruit individuals with a strong and developing track record of research who, at the same time, can demonstrate commitment to teaching excellence and innovation. We actively sustain and promote a collegiate atmosphere that is underpinned by equality, diversity, and inclusion. Candidates would be expected to have a PhD and a developing profile of international-quality publications, together with appropriate experience of teaching in the HE sector for this level.

Informal enquiries can be made to Ian Tharp (Director of Learning and Teaching); email: i.tharp@greenwich.ac.uk and telephone: 020 8331 9339.
