Pay Range: $18.00 and up depending on experience

Make an impact: This position provides direction for staff and children in the early learning classrooms, and guides the planning of curriculum philosophy, implementation and design of the early learning program that meets the program goals and state licensing requirements. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families. Supports staff’s professional development and ensures proper staffing ratios and break coverage. The Program Supervisor is the acting director in the absence of the site director.

This position is for you, if you can:

  • Guides the planning of curriculum philosophy, implementation, and environmental design of the early learning program that meets Y standards and DCYF licensing requirements for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
  • Provide supervision, evaluation and performance coaching of center staff and volunteers.
  • Support staff professional development to include serving as a mentor and providing in-service training to staff and parents under guidance from Director(s).
  • Cover teacher breaks on regular basis. Cover classroom ratios and kitchen as needed.
  • Assist in the classrooms as needed, to ensure staff/child ratios are met.
  • Assist in the management of the facility and program to meet federal, state, and local regulations and licensing requirements, including appropriate adult/child ratios during child care hours.
  • Support lead teacher in assessing children’s learning levels and monitor progress of each child.
  • Provide written and oral reports; develop and/or maintain communication systems with parents, schools and the YMCA Early Learning Program.
  • Assist children to be self-reliant and to relate to others in a positive manner.
  • Keeping accurate attendance records, logs and other documentation required.
  • Assist the site director in other duties as required (pro care, tours, payroll and more).
  • Be responsible of center when the site director is absent from building.

You’ve got this, if you are:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • AA in Early Childhood or related field preferred.
  • Must have child development knowledge and a minimum of 2 years of experience working with children 1-5 years of age.
  • Obtain an Initial Certificate or equivalent in Early Childhood Education within 5 years of hire. Obtain ECE Short Certificate within 2 years of receiving the Initial Certificate.
  • Apply for Department of Children Youth and Families (DCYF) Portable background check prior to start and have clearance before being unsupervised.
  • Negative TB test, MMR vaccination and COVID vaccination verification prior to start.
  • Highly developed organization and prioritization and time management skills.
