Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Research at Pennington Biomedical is supported broadly by multiple
NIH Research Centers, and includes approximately 65 faculty and 20 postdoctoral fellows who comprise a network of 44 laboratories and 13 highly specialized core service facilities. Pennington Biomedical is located within state-of-the-art research facilities on a 222-acre campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Job Description:

Job Description Summary
The primary responsibilities associated with this post-doctoral position are:
1) conducting research studies on the prevention and treatment of obesity and related co-morbidities in children and adolescents,
2) assistance in conducting statistical analyses of population datasets, and
3) preparation of research grant applications and peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts and abstracts in the area of physical activity and obesity in children and adolescents.
The position will especially focus on research in preschool-aged children and intervention deployment in early childhood education settings. The successful candidate will join the Pediatric Obesity and Health Behavior laboratory, which has a well-funded research portfolio including projects related to the development and delivery of lifestyle interventions to improve health and foster effective weight management, assessment of lifestyle behaviors, and prospective studies of obesity and health outcomes. The post-doctoral fellow will participate in all aspects of clinical and population science research, including designing research studies, preparing and submitting grant applications, managing study execution, data management and analysis, and dissemination of study results. Competitive candidates include those who wish to pursue a career in academia and who seek to develop an independent line of research. Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary.
Additional Duties

Education, Experience, and Skills Required
  • A doctoral degree in nutrition, psychology, exercise science, kinesiology , epidemiology, public heath, or related fields is preferred.
  • Evidence of scholastic achievement such as through first author publications is preferred.
  • Physical Abilities [Describe physical demands of job, i.e. standing, walking, lifting, etc .]
  • Normal demands of working in a laboratory and office setting.

Working Conditions [Be specific, i.e. environment , hours of work, trove /, etc.]
  • Occasional need to work beyond normal hours. Long periods of computer work.
