Birmingham City University is a large and diverse place to study right in the heart of the city and we currently have an exciting opportunity for a HR Business Partner to join our team.

As our HR Business Partner you will support the Senior HR Business Partners to provide both operational and strategic support to staff at all levels, ensuring the provision of expert human resources management advice in the areas of Employee Relations, Change Management, Policies and procedures and Organisational Development.

You will have experience of providing proactive and professional first line HR advice and support to a diverse workforce, and of managing a wide variety of employee relations casework. Your approach will be open, engaging, collaborative and pragmatic, with a sense of personal ownership.

A working knowledge and experience of organisational change process is essential, coupled with knowledge of current HR practices and employment law and the ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment.

You will have strong people skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and you will be CIPD qualified, with a strong track record in employee relations and case management.

You must be:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Associate Member of the CIPD (Assoc. CIPD)
  • Experience of dealing with a wide variety of employee relations casework and other HR issues
  • Experience of using HR databases
  • Experience of researching and developing HR policies and procedures, conducting equality impact assessments and monitoring the implementation of policies.
  • Proven track record and commitment to own CPD activities.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft office and HR information systems. Competence in the use of Excel to support the development of accurate and useful management information.
  • Effective influencing and coaching skills with the ability to shape sound and balanced solutions to business focused people issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and a proven ability to work under pressure whilst ensuring accuracy, quality and attention to detail at all times.
