Job Description:
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to use operando scan probe microscopy to study electrochemical and photochemical reactions in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Louisiana State University (LSU). The Postdoctoral Researcher will participate in collaborations with researchers from diverse backgrounds and use a state-of-the art multimodal near field scanning optical microscope (neaSNOM) as the major experimental tool to study electrochemical CO2 reduction and various photocatalytic reactions.
The core scientific goal of the project is to understand how nanoscale properties and defects in electro- and photocatalytic materials affect the overall device performance. A suite of operando scan pump techniques will be leveraged for these studies, e.g., pump-probe near field spectroscopy, tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, nano-FTIR and electrochemical tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy.
100% Perform multimodal near-field scanning optical microscopy characterization of samples under operando and static conditions; develop cells for operando electrochemical tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy; publish scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals; present research findings in conferences.
Education Level:

- Ph.D. in chemical engineering, physics, materials science or engineering, chemistry
