Custodian
Department: Plant Services

Reports To: Plant Services Supervisor

Job Classification: Non-Exempt

Location: Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Falls, IA
Summary:
The purpose of this position is to ensure the college campus remains clean and sanitary. This position is responsible for appropriate use and maintenance of plant services and other college machinery/equipment. A high level of customer service is expected in investigating, responding to and completing tasks related to all facilities on campus. This position works together with the custodial team to ensure all buildings and grounds meet standards for health and safety at all times.

Job Duties:
  • Clean and sanitize classrooms and offices. Clean and sanitize restrooms.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of floors (hardwood and carpets).
  • Collect and dispose of garbage in proper receptacles.
  • Wash windows.
  • Conduct detail cleaning.
  • Set up and break down rooms/areas for events (tables/chairs).
  • Unlock buildings and rooms for other staff. Move furniture in and out of dorm rooms. Prepare dorm rooms and apartments for incoming students. Clean locker rooms. Extract carpets. Finish floors using floor machines. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: Completion of High school/GED.

Abilities:
  • Knowledge of required procedures for cleaning and maintaining flooring.
  • Knowledge of and ability to safely use chemical products.
  • Ability to use and repair machines and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Good customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.

Base Wage: $10 - $14 per hour - Actual salary will be based on experience and education
