Organizational Unit Overview
Research, Economic Development and Engagement (REDE) is responsible for research policy and integrity, research administration and contract negotiations across ECU for both the main campus and the health sciences campus. REDE directs new intellectual enterprises, including technology transfer. Industry, military and government agency research partnerships and community engagement and economic development activities across the eastern half of North Carolina are also managed by REDE. REDE is responsible for the following units under its umbrella: Office of Research Administration, Office of Human Subjects Protections, Office of Research Integrity & Compliance, Office of Research Development, Office of National Security & Industry Initiatives, Office of Economic & Community Engagement, Office of Continuing & Professional Education, Office of Licensing & Commercialization, Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, Office of Undergraduate Research, and the Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee.
Job Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the offices within Economic and Community Engagement (ECE) in the Office of Research, Economic Development, and Engagement. This position is the initial contact for all people calling or visiting ECE and the Willis Building which requires a high level of professionalism and knowledge regarding the programs, services, and policies and procedures within ECE and REDE. This individual must have the ability to apply this knowledge in the performance of daily/routine duties and be able to interpret and explain information to internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner. Duties for this position will include, but not be limited to: purchasing, travel coordination and reimbursements, contract preparation for undergraduate/graduate students and EPAFs, calendar management, meeting and/or event scheduling, facilities/event management, database management, as well as other general administrative support such as distributing mail, escorting visitors, photocopying, filing and organizing as needed. Additional responsibilities include providing excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to work independently with interruptions and the ability to handle multiple tasks with close attention to accuracy and detail. Excellent organizational skills are critical for this role.
Minimum Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Strongly prefer experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and the ECU Systems of Banner, PORT, ProCard, ECUBic, PiratePort and 25Live.
