Position Summary:
 
The Department of Physiology and Biophysics offers research opportunities in molecular biophysics of membranes and proteins, ion channels and signal transduction, molecular and cell biology, structural biology, proteomics, physiological genomics, neuroscience, developmental neurobiology, stem cell biology, endocrinology, cardiac and exercise physiology, GI pathophysiology, immunology, cancer biology, and vision science.
 
The Bioinformatics Programmer III will work with PI, postdocs, students and other lab members to design, test, maintain and document software for display and analysis of data obtained from super-resolution fluorescence microscopy recordings. She/he will perform analysis of experimental data using custom Python scripts and other microscopy and analysis software (mainly, Origin, FLIKA, NES Elements, and Image J) and help develop image analysis pipelines. He/she will install, test and maintain the software packages needed for super-resolution microscopy analysis (mainly Python and Python-based applications like FLIKA, NIS Elements and Image J) and advise and train lab members on using developed software and image-analysis techniques. She/he will also consult with lab members on developing fluorescence microscopy-based experiments, using fluorescent probes and calcium sensitive dyes, and help lab members with documenting and visualizing experimental results for publication.
 
Compensation Range:
 
$106,300 - $125,400

Required:
 
4 years of PhD or postdoctoral experience with quantitative fluorescence imaging and data analysis

Expertise with Python programming Experience with advance fluorescence microscopy Expertise in image analysis PhD or postdoctoral experience with quantitative fluorescence imaging Expertise in quantitative image analysis Experience with Python-based applications such as Flika, NES Elements, ImageJ Experience with OriginLab software for data analysis and visualization Experience with acquisition and analysis of Ca2+ imaging and super-resolution fluorescence data
