Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
Arnold School of Public Health is recruiting one full-time, tenure track (9-month) faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor within the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (COMD) at the University of South Carolina. The faculty member will be responsible for developing and maintaining an independent, extramurally funded program of research in the area of neurodevelopmental disabilities and social communication. We seek a candidate who will also collaborate with other investigators in COMD who have expertise in neurodevelopmental disabilities and child speech and language development and disorders. The faculty member will also be responsible for teaching within the department and contributing service in the department, university, and their field.
Required Education and Experience
All applicants must hold Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders or closely related discipline (e.g., Psychology or Human Development) and have completed at least two years of postdoctoral research experience by the beginning date of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
All applicants must hold Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders or closely related discipline (e.g., Psychology or Human Development) and have completed at least two years of postdoctoral research experience by the beginning date of employment. Research areas of interest include neurodevelopmental disorders such as Down syndrome and Autism. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong record or promise of extramural funding and research excellence. The Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CCC-SLP) is preferred but not required.
