Part-Time Instructor – Anatomy & Physiology I (BIOL 202)

Department: Academic Affairs

General Description:

This course is an introduction to basic structural and functional aspects of the human body. The contribution of each body system to the total well-being of the individual is emphasized, as well as the interdependence of the body systems. Specific topics studied include anatomical terminology, chemical basis of life, cells, cellular metabolism, tissues, integumentary system, skeletal system, muscular system, nervous system, and special senses. Special emphasis is placed upon homeostatic mechanisms whenever feasible. Laboratory exercises include dissection and physiological experiments pertinent to the topics covered. Students have an option to observe a human cadaver.


Credit Hours: 4 Contact Hours: 5 Course Offered: every semester

Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree from a regionally accredited university with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline
2. Previous teaching experience preferred but not required
3. Commitment to community college philosophy
4. Understanding of and experience with technology as a learning tool, both within and outside the classroom

REMUNERATION:

Beginning pay rate for adjunct faculty is $687.14 per contact hour taught. Part-time faculty may take one class per semester tuition free (must be used in the semester in which they teach, the one immediately following the teaching assignment, or the summer semester). During the semester part-time faculty are teaching they also have access to our pool, fitness, and recreation centers.


MCC will pay adjunct instructors’ mileage up to 70 miles round trip at the current IRS mileage rate. This is based on 50 miles one-way, with no mileage being paid for the first 30 miles round trip.
