Position Summary
Under the direction of the Manager, Testing Services, the Senior Technician provides clerical and technical support for the Testing Center including the maintenance and distribution of computer scored, and consumable/paper and pencil course testing. The position monitors and proctors exams via paper and pencil or computer, and maintains confidentiality and security of tests and test results.
Description of Duties
  • Verify identity of all test applicants and ensure applicants follow appropriate sign in procedures. Accurately determine appropriate test.
  • Register candidates for and proctor GED examinations.
  • Accurately determine appropriate test, Administer, proctor, score and replace tests in file; assure scored results are placed appropriately for pick up.
  • In addition to the above listed responsibilities, this position is responsible to perform all Disability Services Office (DSO) accommodated testing.
  • Monitor, proctor, score, and replace tests in file.
  • Assure scored results are placed appropriately for pick-up.
  • Monitor Accuplacer assessments; download scores from internet to Colleague on a timely basis. Batch score exams, via Digital Desk computer program, for individual faculty for their entire class.
Monitor, proctor and/or score:
-College or university independent study exams.
-Catalog computer-based examinations.
-Computerized certification exams.
-Various Allied Health individual and group exams.
-Career and personality assessments for student and community members.
  • Maintain security during testing, prevent cheating and advise faculty of suspected cheating.
  • Must exercise discretion and tact in dealing with students.
  • Report academic integrity violation in writing to the V.P of Learning, faculty member and the Manager of the Testing Center.
  • Assist faculty and staff with computerized test formatting.
  • Correct scoring errors.
  • Develop computerized scoring keys.
  • Troubleshoot testing issues with faculty, administrators, students and community members. Troubleshoot technical problems with computer-based tests.
  • Maintain rosters, paperwork and correspondence associated with exams.
  • Organize and maintain large, complex records and statistics for paper/pencil and computerized tests.
  • Maintain test schedules and coordinate large group tests
  • Maintain confidentiality of student or student related information.
  • Perform all clerical duties for the department including preparation of documents, distributing mail, preparing routine correspondence, answering phones, preparing reports.
  • Perform other related duties as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • High School graduation; or an equivalent.
Experience:
  • One year of related experience.
Knowledge Abilities/Skills:
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy skills at an intermediate level with the demonstrated ability to utilize and apply Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as specialized software programs and computer applications.
  • Ability to pass ‘test administrator’ exams and maintain certifications as necessary.
  • Ability to learn and apply office practices, procedures, policies, and regulations that are essential to the position.
Preferred Qualifications & Special Considerations
  • Knowledge of Monmouth County and its communities.
Employee required to bend and/or stand for long periods. Flexible hours including evenings and weekends required.
