Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Financial Analyst for ScreenNJ at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
The focus of the ScreenNJ program is prevention and early detection of lung cancer and colorectal cancer, as well as breast, prostate, cervical, other HPV-related cancers. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about patient care, equitable health care access, and who works well in a dynamic position with a high degree of independence and flexibility.
Under the direction of the Business Manager and in coordination with the Cancer Control Outreach Director, ScreenNJ program manager, screening navigation team, and other ScreenNJ staff, this position supports the financial tracking, billing / payments management, and coordination of ScreenNJ efforts both within Rutgers and in collaboration with ScreenNJ partner sites throughout New Jersey.
The successful candidate will have a strong interest in improving health outcomes for patients, with the ability to easily communicate with diverse patients and medical staff. This professional will possess a customer service orientation, with enthusiasm for identifying solutions and addressing barriers so that more people can access cancer screening and treatment services. The position will be a self-starter, driven by improving health outcomes and health equity, and with solid ability to operate autonomously to solve routine and semi-routine problems in financial processes.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Works closely with Business Manager, ScreenNJ program manager, program coordinator, and Cancer Control Outreach Director to develop draft and final budgets for ScreenNJ core efforts, salary charging, and purchase orders for vendor / partner services using required budget formats and templates.
  • Provides updates, income and spending projections, and analyses to Business Manager, ScreenNJ program manager, coordinator, and co-director on a monthly basis.
  • Provides updates and problem notifications to Business Manager and works with the ScreenNJ program coordinator on a weekly or as needed more frequent basis to identify and resolve vendor and partner project issues regarding invoicing / payments.
  • Communicates to vendors, partners, potential partners, and internal team members regarding financial matters in collaboration with the ScreenNJ Program Coordinator.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance, plus three (3) years of professional billing or financial experience in a government agency, university setting, healthcare setting, or large business office with responsibility for procurement, billing, financial tracking of expenditures, and compilation of financial data.
  • Equivalent education, experience, and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Tech savvy and demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Adobe, video calling/conferencing, email and various other applications.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills, problem-solving skills, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to attend to multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Ability to work under general supervision, within established work parameters, with few direct instructions.
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Demonstrated organizational, coordination, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and an ability to set priorities and maintain deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Rutgers University policies, procedures, and organizational structure.
  • Knowledge of the Rutgers procurement systems and processes
  • Experience with grant budgets and financial analyses in an academic, governmental, or healthcare environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 40 lbs. (to move project supplies, set-up and break-down event equipment, etc.) may occasionally be required.
