Overview
The Rutgers Division of Intercollegiate Athletics sponsors 24 intercollegiate sports, comprised of 14 women’s and 10 men’s programs, that compete at the Division I level. The Scarlet Knights are members of the prestigious Big Ten Conference, the nation’s premier academic and athletic conference, after officially joining the league on July 1, 2014. Known as “The Birthplace of College Football, Rutgers hosted Princeton on Nov. 6, 1869 in the first intercollegiate football game, with RU earning a 6-4 victory.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Director of Operations – Wrestling, for Rutgers Athletics. This position is under the direct supervision of the head wrestling coach. The director of operations assists in the coordination and administration of the assigned intercollegiate wrestling program.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Works in connection with travel coordinator to book travel and hotel arrangements.
  • Works with Rutgers facilities staff for all competition arrangements, practice and competition times with opponent institutions, facility preparation and any practices or other program events that may be planned for the competition venue.
  • Will be in contact with team’s director of development on a regular basis to track on repeat and new donors to the program.
  • Oversees promotions and public relations with head coach.
  • Works with marketing office regarding all promotional activities, including special events, fundraising events, and various game day promotions related to the sport of wrestling.
  • Handles all underclass recruiting – visits, clinics, correspondence, etc.
  • Completes expense reimbursements and credit card reconciliations for wrestling staff members. Assists the head coach(es) with other operational duties as they arise.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver’s license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Good organizational skills and must be computer literate.
  • Ability to communicate with student athletes, athletic administrative staff and parents of prospective recruits.
  • Must perform above duties with the highest standard of professionalism and ethical behavior and in accordance with University, Departmental, Big Ten or other affiliated Conference and NCAA regulations, policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of NCAA regulations relative to rules in administration and recruiting areas.
Equipment Utilized
  • Must be able to use computer, e-mail and recruiting software database.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Special Conditions
  • Must be able to work evenings/weekends as needed.
  • Clean driving record.
