Job Summary:
The Postdoctoral Fellow will work under the supervision of a regular faculty member and Chair of the department, who serve as a mentor to the Fellow and will impart the realities, and variety, of scientific careers, and will encourage experiences outside the laboratory to broaden aspirations. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work to support ongoing projects in the laboratory and support additional projects and training needs of flow cytometry for the department. Opportunities to publish the results of research or scholarship during the period of appointment. As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow serving the Richardson lab and providing technical support to the department's flow cytometry equipment your main duties will include:· Use of flow cytometry, maintain flow cytometry equipment, train new users in flow cytometry and related bioimaging fluidics-based equipment· Analyze and interpret flow cytometry and bioimaging results and data related to projects in the lab· Maintain stocks, resources, and equipment in Richardson lab and related equipment in the department used by Richardson labs such as autoclaves, microscopes, PCR, or sequencers, as appropriate· Keep informed of recent advances in the field of DNA damage and repair· Conduct and supervise junior researchers in a program of investigation related to DNA damage and repair along with the principal investigator, as appropriate· Evaluate methods and techniques used and results obtained by other researchers and to relate such evaluations appropriately to their own work· Communicate or present research results through publication or other recognized forms of output· Contribute to the supervision of junior researchers, as appropriate· Maintain own continuing professional development and act as a mentor to less experienced colleagues, as appropriate· Maintain a safe work environment, including ensuring compliance with legislation and undertaking risk assessmentsWithin the confines of the particular research focus assigned by that faculty member, the Postdoctoral Fellow functions with a considerable degree of independence and has the freedom (and is expected) to publish the results of his or her research or scholarship during the period of appointment. Minimum Qualifications:
