Department Summary
The department has a mission to provide a high quality education to our diverse student population through excellence and innovation in teaching and research in order to serve the scientific and engineering needs of the state of Texas and the nation. This will be achieved by a balance of formal course work, practical laboratory training, and research projects that encompass both the basic science and the applied aspects of materials science and engineering. The department offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering programs.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba. 
Position Summary
This position is required to work closely with UNT faculty colleagues, and researchers at sponsoring agencies on advanced characterization of metallic materials produced by advanced processing techniques. The position would require strong background in electron microscopy, deformation mechanisms, deformation induced transformation mechanisms, and understanding of microstructural evolution during mechanical testing.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in Materials Science and Engineering or related fields
Preferred Qualifications
Detailed publications of deformation mechanisms. Excellent skills in relating microstructure to mechanical properties.
