Description

This position will provide academic advising to students. This student-oriented position at the MACC Columbia campus requires some overtime at the beginning of enrollment periods. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. Qualifications

This position requires excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, organizational skills, the ability to multi-task and work under pressure. A Bachelor’s Degree is required. Some evening and weekend work and will be required during the start of each semester.

Job Responsibilities

The Academic Advisor shall:

  1. Advise and enroll students in all MACC programs;
  2. Discuss career and transfer information and assist students with career and transfer planning;
  3. Complete unofficial degree audits;
  4. Discuss general financial aid information (A+ program, application deadlines, how to apply, etc.);
  5. Discuss tuition rates, payment deadlines, payment plan options, late registration fee, refund policy, etc.;
  6. Refer students to proper personnel for special services;
  7. Be responsible for updating admissions information and other student forms into the college computer system;
  8. Administer placement testing when needed;
  9. Assist with graduation application information, transcripts, etc.;
  10. Attend college recruiting events/career fairs/programs when necessary;
  11. Respond to requests for college information, give tours and specific program information to interested students;
  12. Assist instructors with class presentations involving degree plans;
  13. Assist with planning college activities and student organization activities;
  14. Perform all other duties as assigned.
