Full Job Description

The Director of Workforce Development is responsible forcreating,driving, and managingGoodwills workforce development programs. Reporting to the Vice President of Mission Services and Workforce Innovation, the Director of Workforce Development will provide the critically important operational leadership to ensure the long-term growth of SF Goodwills mission impact, including offering vibrant and dynamic workforce development programs to the community. They will help lead Goodwills efforts to facilitate movement from poverty to self-sufficiency for individuals in need throughout the Bay Area, and to provide meaningful and sustainable employment for those who are under-represented in the workplace or who face structural obstacles to finding work.


This role will seek ongoing opportunities to advance SF Goodwills training programs to meet the demands of a changing workforce, integrating work/life coaching, barrier removal, and job skill development. This position will be responsible for building strong partnerships with community-based organizations, local and state government agencies, and industry leaders. They will also develop and cultivate public and philanthropic partnerships that support SF Goodwills mission related and program strategies. The Director of Workforce Development will be a member of Goodwills Mission Advancement Leadership team and will supervise the Career Services team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership, strategic direction, and oversight of Goodwills Workforce Development programs to ensure the success and compliance of the departments programmatic and financial goals

  • Provide leadership and support to a diverse team of Workforce Development colleagues

  • Create, direct, manage and evaluate all Workforce Development programs that meet the needs of the community and clients we serve

  • Contact,developandmaintainworkingrelationshipwithcommunitypartners,employers,and governmententitiestofosterprogramcontinuitytranscending program outcomes and thedevelopmentofnewprograms

  • Create and manage the departments annual budget

  • Participate in external committees and workforce development networks to keep up to date on current trends and best practices in the field

  • Work closely with the organizations Development Team to respond to funding opportunities

  • Ensureprogram teams are developing, managing, and modifying workforce programs so they bring value to our community. Ensuring excellent delivery of services modeled after CARF standards, internal processes, and in compliance with the divisions goals

  • Assistwithmarketingplans,activitiesandmaterialsthatensureGoodwills workisseenandrecognizedwithininthecommunity

  • As a member of the Mission Advancement Leadership Team, accurately present issues that impact your ability to achieve maximum results, provide recommendations, problem solve and implement solutions

  • Provide direct support in executing contract and grant requirements

  • Be detail-oriented, strong research skills, and an avid advocate for data quality

  • Have strong project management skills such as planning, documentation, execution and implementation ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Be receptive to feedback, willing to learn and embrace continuous improvement

  • Present a professional demeanor with the ability to exercise discretion and judgment in confidential matters

  • Follow and promote workplace quality and safety standards and contribute to a culture of safety
