Position Summary:
 
Under the supervision of the principal investigator, the staff research coordinator and postdoctoral fellows, are responsible for the successful execution of all assigned research studies. Our research involves observational studies of human participants, but they are not clinical trials. Our research program broadly examines the effects of maternal stress and stress-related biobehavioral processes during pregnancy on fetal, newborn, infant and child developmental and health outcomes, and the maternal-placental-fetal endocrine, immune and metabolic mechanisms that may mediate these effects. The outcomes of interest of the current study include newborn/infant stem cell characteristics, and newborn, infant and child body composition (adiposity) and metabolism function. The methods used to collect data include structured interviews and questionnaires, laboratory- and field (ecological momentary assessment)- based protocols, assays of biological tissues (blood, saliva, urine), isolation and culture of newborn stem cells, whole-body imaging of newborns, infants and children using dual x-ray absorptiometry (DXA), air displacement plethysmography (PEA POD) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and abstraction of clinical data from the medical records.

$26.93 - $34.87

Required:
 
BA/BS degree from accredited college/university
Current phlebotomy license or willingness to obtain license.
Impeccable attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to develop and direct lab routines and schedules. Ability to multi-task in an environment with changing priorities and deadlines Ability to communicate effectively with study participants (adults, infants and children), supervisors and other research staff. Ability to write clearly and succinctly Demonstrated ability to implement and adhere to protocol structure Knowledge of computer applications; comfortable learning and working with new programs
 
Preferred:
 
Experience with tissue culture or molecular biology techniques Fluency in English and Spanish is strongly desired Experience with research in pregnant mothers and infants Experience with infant and child body composition assessments. Experience with handling and processing of biological samples Experience in a clinical research setting and human subjects recruitments.
