General Description:

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Provide in-class/clinic floor and online assistance with Cosmetology courses as directed by instructor.
  2. Assist with specified student activities and assignments as directed by instructor.
  3. Assist in reviewing student progress.
  4. Maintain records of student attendance.
  5. Direct students in the operation salon equipment and the use of lab materials.
  6. Assist in monitoring classroom activities and lab rotations.
  7. Provide feedback to students during self-directed study activities.
  8. Assist in program orientation for new students.
  9. Assist with scheduling, documentation, and correspondence related to required class activities.
  10. Assist with Student tutoring.
  11. Organize clinic floor for learning activities.
  12. Operate the following equipment/Computer Software: Square, Starfish, PeopleSoft, and Outlook.
  13. Participate in staff and team planning meetings as schedule allows.
  14. Interact effectively with other NTC teams.
  15. Participate in advisory committee meetings as available.
  16. Attend professional meetings, workshops, and conferences as directed.
  17. Assist in maintaining inventory of instructional materials and equipment and perform minor maintenance of equipment.
  18. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a current Cosmetology license from the state of Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS).
  • 2-5 years’ experience in Cosmetology required.
  • Experience with barbering techniques.
  • Experience working with students in an educational setting preferred.
  • Ability to provide supportive, empathetic learning environment to students.
  • Ability to recognize and support instructors' educational strategies and philosophies successfully
  • Commitment to mission and goals of NTC and the Cosmetology program
  • Ability to deal with sensitive information and confidential data in a manner that does not adversely impact NTC or the Cosmetology program.
  • Ability to interact effectively
  • Must be able to pass the Wisconsin criminal background check
  • Wisconsin Technical College certification desirable

Additional Physical Requirements:
Vision: Adequate with aid to read instructions, labels, documents, computer screens, and differentiate between colors.

Hearing: Adequate with aid to understand oral requests, telephone conversation, and PA systems.

Required Employee Program Safety Training:
Bloodborne Pathogen, chemical hygiene, emergency action plan, emergency procedures, ergonomics (office/workplace), slips, trips and falls and vehicle safety
