Posting Summary
Working under the direction of the QA Manager, the Research Analyst (GMP Facility) is responsible for performing in-house quality control assays and, as needed, staff training, participates in critical production steps of the GMP Facility and proper documentation of manufacturing activities and reagent supplies receipt, registration and testing. The Research Assistant is expected to participate in manufacturing of the products generated by GMP Facility as required.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Participates in revision, implementation and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOP) according to good manufacturing practices (GMP) and FDA approved guidelines for the GMP Facility of CINJ.
  • Assist with review of the batch records to ascertain accuracy and completeness of the manufacturing steps.
  • Assists with the maintenance of the SOPs for GMP Facility.
  • Responsible for shipment/transportation of test samples to external testing sources and acquiring test reports.
  • Assist in training new GMP staff as required.
  • Assists with maintenance of training documentation.
  • Participates in maintaining the GMP Facility by ordering, receiving, registration, labeling and testing of reagent and supplies.
  • Performs radioactive monitoring of space and equipment used by GMP Facility in testing and production.
  • Performs appropriate testing of the reagents and supplies for the GMP Facility use.
  • Under supervision conducts testing of newly developed bioassays and equipment.
  • As requested performs assays required for testing and characterization of cell products generated by GMP Facility.
  • Supports all functional Quality Assurance activities related to the development, implementation and maintenance of Quality systems such as Document Control, Change Control, Deviations, and CAPAs etc.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement

Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus a minimum of two years’ experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree with one year of experience in cell or gene therapy research or GMP manufacturing.
  • Experience with cell culturing or genetic modification of the cells.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking, and hearing. Must meet minimum vision requirements. Lifting up to 25 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Laboratory environment. Moderate noise. Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs, and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases. Universal precautions are mandatory. Proper gowning required in the GMP Facility. Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
