| Posting Summary | Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Fellow for the Public Health Research Institute Center within the New Jersey Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct research in the area of assays for rare somatic mutations in liquid biopsies using SuperSelective primers in Dr Fred Russell Kramer’s laboratory. Prior knowledge of deep sequencing performance and analysis, DNA extraction for liquid biopsies, molecular biology is essential. Collects, records and analyzes data, prepares reports for peer- reviewed scientific publications and conference presentations, and contributes to the writing of grants. Reports all research related activities to the PI and trains technicians/fellows in relevant techniques as directed by PI. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Performs research in the Kramer laboratory, as directed by the PI and in collaboration with other members of the laboratory.
- Demonstrates good team spirit, organization, multi-tasking and communication skills.
- Becomes familiar with the scientific contents of the project and coordinate with lab members to design and plan studies.
- Organizes electronic records, data files and databases related to studies and experiments. Assists in data analysis and presentation of findings at weekly team meetings and at larger meetings with consortium members (US and international).
- Evaluates the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase.
- Participates in the evaluation of existing procedures, suggests revisions, where necessary, and proposes new procedures, where required.
- Demonstrates ability to perform lab research without supervision.
- Communicates effectively: speaks, listens and writes in a clear, thorough and timely manner, using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.
- Develops new and unique ways to improve operations of the organization and to create new opportunities.
- Works cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolves problems, and makes decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.

Minimum Education and Experience | - PhD in the fields of biology, cancer biology and genomics.

- Great communication and writing skills are essential.
- The applicant should have experience in molecular biology and genomics – both experimental and bioinformatics.
- Excellent communication skills and critical thinking abilities are needed.
- Next generation sequencing assays, library preparation of cell-free DNA, genomic DNA, RNA for Deep Sequencing, PCR, and digital droplet PCR.
