Job Title Coordinator of Employee RelationsPosting Number F004684Position Status Full TimeAssignment Length This field only applies to FacultyGrant Funded NoCategory APTClass Code 14Pay Rate Commensurate with education and experienceLocation DistrictDepartment DT Human ResourcesJob Summary Reporting to the Manager of Employee Relations, the Coordinator of Employee Relations conducts objective, balanced, and thorough investigations into alleged EEO, Title IX, and other policy violations while acting with warmth, empathy, compassion, and creativity to drive effectiveness through the investigative process. The position will be responsible for increasing employee confidence by ensuring consistency and fairness in the interpretation and application of College policy; and by providing technical expertise to employees and stakeholder groups. Additionally, the position assists with other employee relations department functions, such as grievances, appeal hearings, leave management, and unemployment claims. Essential Duties and Responsibilities PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
- Serves as a liaison between the employee, management, related departments and external agencies, the position investigates and resolves employment-related concerns in compliance with federal and state laws and College policies and initiatives
- Conducts timely internal investigations in response to complaints, prepares well-written reports at the conclusion of investigations, and recommends appropriate corrective actions based on policies, procedures, and existing practices
- Receives, reviews, and makes appropriate decisions regarding requests for assistance with workplace complaints, performance improvement plans, and other employee relations functions
- Organizes assigned work in a manner that supports the accurate and timely completion, tracking, and reporting of employee relations issues to department leadership
- Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, programs, and compliance issues accurately and in a timely manner
- Identifies the need for changes in policies, procedures, and processes, taking the initiative to recommend changes, following internal change processes
- Uses interpersonal skills, thinks, reasons, and makes sound judgments when working with employees regarding assigned employee relations issues
- Consults with General Counsel and others to resolve issues when necessary
- Gathers critical and confidential data as requested by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) regarding employee terminations, temporary separations, and benefit payments to support the College in its compliance efforts and legal matters
- Coordinates appeals and hearings with TWC unemployment representatives
- Gathers critical and confidential data as requested regarding employee injuries, follow-up treatment and rehabilitation, and coordinates return to work with the worker’s compensation insurance provider to support the College in its compliance efforts and legal matters
Service Excellence - Assists with educating employees on employee relations-related issues, including Title VII, Title IX, and other applicable policies/procedures
- Provides excellent customer service and outreach to employees regarding assigned programs
- Cultivates strong rapport with customers, as well as internal and external stakeholders
- Maintains a professional appearance and provides a positive image
- Attends the workplace regularly; reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored by Tarrant County College (TCC) as appropriate for the role

Supervision Works under the general supervision of the Manager of Employee Relations

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures - Bachelor’s degree
- Three (3) years of working experience in employee relations
Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures - Degree in Human Resources, management, or related field
- Experience conducting employee relations investigations
- PHR, SPHR, or related HR certification
- Experience working in higher education
Knowledge, Skills and Ability - Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate complex issues to a diverse audience
- Ability to maintain and appropriately communicate confidential information
- Ability to grasp complex concepts and procedures quickly
- Ability to demonstrate high-quality case management skills using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other programs to organize work
- Strong judgment, decisiveness, critical thinking, and excellent oral and written communication skills to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work under pressure with multiple interruptions and meet deadlines
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-service oriented collaborative team environment
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with a keen understanding of information technology and relational database applications
- Working knowledge of relevant federal and state laws regarding Title VII, Title IX, employment, and harassment prevention
