Position Description:

The Muscle Molecular Physiology Laboratory (MMPL), led by Erin Talbert, at the University of Iowa has an open postdoctoral position to work on our NIH-funded research projects. We’re looking for a creative scientist to join us to use a variety of techniques and experimental designs to address clinically meaningful questions about the effects of cancer on skeletal muscle and other body tissues through a condition called cachexia.

Education Requirement:

  • Applicants must have completed the requirements for a PhD in a relevant scientific field prior to their proposed start date.

Required Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm, strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently and in a team environment, attention to detail, and resilience.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with a range of standard laboratory methods, including but not limited to cell culture, biochemical assays, ELISAs, Western blotting, PCR and RT-PCR, and maintaining laboratory stocks and reagents.

  • Experience with mouse handling and colony management, experience with rodent surgery.
