Works with the Deans Team to provide academic support to a variety of areas and endeavors, including providing logistical support to the Corrections Education Program (CEP), as a point of first contact for JC students that are returning citizens from the CEP program. Also provides support to PTK members by answering questions, identifying eligible PTK members and assists with communicating with new and current members. Essential Functions ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Logistical Support to Corrections Education Program
- Assists CEP returning citizens in identifying college resources and wrap-around services to promote a successful re-entry to the higher education
- Responsible for maintaining the Prospective New Student Data base for CEP. Identifying new students, vetting students by eligibility criteria, creating new student packets, entering new student applications, and following through with new students to financial aid award and registration.
- Maintains inventory of CEP Books and supplies for the program and office. Creates purchase orders for books and supplies as needed.
- Provides support to CEP team in collecting, sorting, scanning, sending, and filing student homework assignments.
- Assist with assembling course materials for CEP student on a semester-by-semester basis. Including building course packs and preparing books for delivery to students.
- Travel to CEP Correctional Facilities to pick up and drop off student course materials, homework assignments and other items.
- Perform other duties as assigned by CEP Director.
Support to the Deans Team
- Provide administrative support to Academic Integrity committees
- Serve as back-up for staffing in the Information Commons
- Will be the primary administrative support for Phi Theta Kappa. This includes communication, identifying eligible PTK members, processing invoices, assistance at graduation time and answers general information regarding PTK.
- Maintains inventory of office supplies, forms, order, and repair services for office equipment and performs bookkeeping functions in the areas of purchase order tracking, voucher preparation, and processing of payments received.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for the supervision and training of student employees.
CONTACTS AND PURPOSE OF CONTACTS
Internal: Frequent and numerous contacts with faculty, Honors Director, Honors Faculty Council, as well as various staff and students occasionally in stressful circumstances in person, phone, e-mail, memo/letter, etc.
External: Contacts with local businesses, service organizations, and governmental and community entities as related to service learning; representatives from area high schools in an information receiving and disseminating capacity.

Education and Experience
Required: Associate degree and currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program
Preferred: A graduate or past participant in Jackson College’s Corrections Education Program or another program of higher education in prison

- Must be able to work independently to complete assignments in a timely manner. Work in coordination with others in a team atmosphere.
- Must be able to function under pressure and manage stressful or delicate situations.
- Certified in the administration of CPR and First Aid including use of defibrillator. Skilled in the operation of a two-way radio.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations and apply concepts of basic algebra.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
