Position Description:

The Division of Endocrinology in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is recruiting a full-time scientist as an Associate. The position is for one-year appointment renewable twice for a total of three years.   Candidates must have an M.D., Ph.D. or equivalent and must have prior postdoctoral research training in skeletal muscle physiology and mechanisms of skeletal muscle atrophy.


This position will involve continued work towards developing a research program in the regulation of skeletal muscle atrophy.  Candidates must have previous experience with animal models of muscle atrophy, including expertise in animal surgery, skeletal muscle dissections, and in vivo measurement of muscle strength.  Expertise in biochemical and molecular biology techniques, proteasome assays, immunohistochemistry, and muscle histology is highly desired. Candidates must have an interest in research in an academic setting and a record of publications in the field of skeletal muscle physiology.


 

Education Requirement:

M.D., Ph.D. or equivalent

Required Qualifications:

Prior postdoctoral research training in skeletal muscle physiology and mechanisms of skeletal muscle atrophy.


Previous experience with animal models of muscle atrophy, including expertise in animal surgery, skeletal muscle dissections, and in vivo measurement of muscle strength.


An interest in research in an academic setting and a record of publications in the field of skeletal muscle physiology.

Desirable Qualifications:

Expertise in biochemical and molecular biology techniques, proteasome assays, immunohistochemistry, and muscle histology.
