The CDC Foundation is working with CDC and state and local authorities to provide surge staff to support surveillance, prevention and response activities within the Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) program. The CDC Foundation seeks candidates for the Communications Coordinator position. The Communication Coordinator will develop content for all forms of media and assists with gathering and promoting successes and efforts associated with OD2A prevention and surveillance activities. The Communications Coordinator will create messaging and graphics to convey information aimed at reducing fatal and non-fatal drug overdose. This position is remote in Nebraska. Job Highlights:

Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in communications, public health, the social sciences or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years related work experience
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to write and edit clear, engaging, storytelling and grammatically correct content for diverse audiences
- Proven success in designing and implementing communications strategies, traditional (printed) and digital forms
- Excellent program management skills, including strong attention to detail
- Experience with or demonstrated interest in overdose prevention and surveillance, substance use disorder treatment, harm reduction and drug policy
- Ability to work effectively with diverse partners and stakeholders and engage in strategic partnerships
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently and within teams
- Demonstrated experience working with remote partners and teams
- Experience with publishing software, such as Adobe applications, Microsoft Publisher, Piktochart, Canva, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently and within teams
- Experience working in a virtual environment with remote partners and teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and Zoom
- Bilingual preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Produce and maintain written and visual content for various OD2A efforts
- Develop and maintain standardized OD2A program materials and talking points, such as program one-pagers, brochures, PowerPoint templates, and materials for partners
- Provide support to improve existing OD2A communications tools and identify creative dissemination strategies to increase visibility of the program and its successes
- Support the development of OD2A success stories
- Support the development and maintenance of jurisdiction OD2A website
- Respond to information requests from jurisdiction partners
- Develop specialized knowledge of overdose prevention and surveillance efforts
- Support strategic planning processes, as needed.

- This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and Two Rivers Public Health Department in order to best support Kearney/Buffalo County, Nebraska in their public health programming.
