QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

The qualifications, knowledge, and skill requirements for this position include:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of prior administrative and/or academic leadership experience;
  • Demonstrable understanding and commitment to the mission of a comprehensive state college;
  • Proven and effective leadership skills;
  • Ability to envision and accomplish significant goals;
  • Strong ability to collaborate and cooperate with colleagues, faculty and community members;
  • Ability to effectively utilize technology to facilitate student success;
  • Effective verbal, written and presentation/communication skills;
  • Knowledge of the IRSC service region and Indian River County;
  • Preference shall be given to the following - doctorate degree from an accredited institution;
  • Valid driver’s License.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Reporting directly to the President and serving as a member of the President’s Cabinet;
  • Providing senior-level leadership for improving student success through student services and development and through collaboration with instructional and college leaders;
  • Effectively leading and coordinating Mueller Campus staff, programs, curriculum, activities and resources to achieve the College’s goals;
  • Overseeing operations, management, and maintenance of the Richardson Center and other “special use” community outreach locations to include the Vista Adult Education Center for the benefit of the College, faculty, student business and industry, and community;
  • Coordinating seamless education transition with the Indian River Charter High School;
  • Building and maintaining a positive campus culture focused on maximizing student success through exemplary leadership, employee development, teamwork and open communication;
  • Promoting access to education by developing, implementing, and directing effective and appropriate instructional, student support , and community relations programs to meet the needs of the students and community;
  • Implementing programs and strategies to continuously enhance student enrollment, retention, progression, completion, placement and success;
  • Ensuring high standards of quality in all programs and services offered by the campus;
  • Taking a leadership role in initiating and coordinating opportunities for the College to engage in and support the economic development of the region;
  • Developing and implementing a systematic process to identify, monitor, track and respond quickly to the educational and workforce needs of the community;
  • Establishing and maintaining close working relationships with all major employers in the community;
  • Ensuring that the College maintains a prominent and visible presence in the community as the region’s primary provider of higher education, workforce training, and resource for economic and personal development;
  • Actively seeking out every opportunity to represent the College in the community, including speaking engagements, meetings with business and industry representatives, participation in community functions, and involvement with community organizations;
  • Establishing and maintaining a close working relationship with the area school district, high schools and other postsecondary institutions;
  • Maintaining effective, efficient and comprehensive student services, including registration, counseling and scheduling of classes and programs aligned to student and community needs, and facilitating student progress by resolving any barriers or issues;
  • Managing the physical operations, administrative functions and staffing of the campus to provide a productive, well-maintained, safe and secure learning environment;
  • Build a companion strategic plan for the Mueller Campus and Indian River County opportunities;
  • Reside in or be willing to relocate to the IRSC Service District area (Indian River, Martin, St. Lucie or Okeechobee Counties).

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serving as the primary liaison and channel of communication between the College and community;
  • Communicating effectively, openly and continuously with the President regarding activities, developments and progress toward goals;
  • Developing, coordinating and implementing academic, career and adult education programs, course schedules, recruitment and retention strategies to support the long-term development of the campus and meet the educational needs of the students and community;
  • Providing a safe, secure, friendly, comfortable, and well-maintained learning environment;
  • Developing and cultivating relationships with current and prospective businesses and industries, organizations, governmental entities and agencies in Indian River County;
  • Serves as IRSC’s liaison to facilitate a productive and collaborative relationship with the Indian River County/IRSC Joint-Use Library;
  • Actively participating in and supporting College initiatives, activities, events and employee development programs;
  • Actively and visibly representing the College throughout the community, and meeting on a regular basis with major employers, school district leaders, and other key organizations;
  • Tracking and continuously improving key accountability and success measures including enrollment, retention, progression, completion, placement, and student satisfaction;
  • Collaborating with College instructional administrators and curriculum staff to develop semester schedules and implement courses for long-term program development and progression of students;
  • Collaborating with Instructional Deans and Department Chairs in the recruitment, orientation, supervision and evaluation of faculty to ensure a high-quality of instruction;
  • Supporting the Marketing, Media, and Brand Strategy Division and IRSC Foundation in implementing marketing strategies and cultivating relationships with potential and current donors;
  • Working with the Equity Officer/Title IX Coordinator and Human Resources to meet College equity goals;
  • Managing campus staff and resources and preparing an annual campus strategic plan and budget;
  • Assisting in the coordination of contracts and agreements between the College and agencies;
  • Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the President.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25 ) pounds. It al so requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
