The Community College system offers a broad array of credit and non-credit adult continuing education programs in addition to its traditional academic degree programs. These are intended to respond to the educational needs of the populations served by the Colleges.
The Continuing Education Assistant is responsible for the communication, marketing, registration and administrative services in support of these continuing education programs at a Community College.
Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)
A Bachelor’s degree in Education or Business or an appropriately related field together with one to four years of related office administration experience; or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.
Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
- Experience in office administration
- Experience in registration procedures
- Experience with continuing education operations
- Experience with computer applications in office operations

Example of Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Director of Non-Credit Programs, the incumbent is responsible for communication and marketing; Contributing to the efficient and accurate registration of continuing education students; Providing effective administrative services for the College’s continuing education programs.
In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

$57,604 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. Salary Range for this level is $57,604-$104,581
