Position Overview |
The Evans lab invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Marquette University. The Evans lab studies neural control of sleep and daily rhythms, using real-time cellular imaging, genetic manipulations, neurochemistry, cell culture, and behavioral assays. The successful candidate will receive mentorship and training in these approaches, as well as in areas of experimental design, execution, data analyses, and scientific communication to advance the applicant’s career interests and goals. The successful candidate will join an interactive team of neuroscientists dedicated to understanding mechanisms of plasticity and pathology that impact human health and disease. Duties and Responsibilities |
The successful candidate will conduct preclinical research in rodent models using cellular and molecular approaches, including real-time imaging of neuronal function using advanced genetic and optogenetic techniques. These studies will be complemented by behavioral studies conducted by the postdoc in collaboration with other members of the research team. Other responsibilities include critical analysis of the literature, data interpretation, technique optimization, and communication of research results through presentations and publication.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities |
Earned doctorate (or its foreign equivalent) or appropriate terminal degree, a record of scientific productivity, and ability to conduct preclinical research using rodents.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities |
Prior experience in the field of behavioral neuroscience, circadian biology, and/or molecular biology is preferred. Individuals with expertise in these areas are highly encouraged to apply.
