The University of New England (UNE) School of Pharmacy is seeking an Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor of Pharmacology/Toxicology. This full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track position reports to the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Administration, one of two academic departments comprising the School of Pharmacy in the UNE Westbrook College of Health Professions. Disciplines of teaching and research expertise represented within the Department include pharmacology/toxicology; biochemistry/medicinal chemistry; pharmaceutics/pharmacokinetics; and social and administrative pharmacy. The School of Pharmacy is situated on the wonderful Portland campus of the University of New England. Portland, Maine has recently been named one of the 10 best places to live in the country by U.S. News & World Report. 
The successful candidate will teach pharmacology in the School of Pharmacy’s student-centered, integrative curriculum. Course responsibilities will include the pharmacology component of the Drugs & Disease course sequence, which integrates both pharmaceutical and clinical science. Teaching assignments will preferentially include cardiovascular, endocrine, respiratory and/or men and women’s health conditions. Depending upon the candidate’s qualifications and areas of interest there may also be opportunities for teaching in pathophysiology and medicinal chemistry. The candidate is also expected to provide academic service at the departmental, school, college, and/or university level through committee work and student advising; as well as engage in collaborative research or scholarship activities involving Doctor of Pharmacy students. The allocation of effort in research and/or scholarship will be negotiated upon hire along with potential laboratory startup funds. This faculty position reports to the Department Chair.
A Ph.D. in pharmacology, toxicology, or closely related discipline is required. The successful candidate will show potential for either developing an independent research program or collaborating on scholarly projects with other School of Pharmacy faculty. While preference will be given to applicants with prior teaching experience in a health sciences curriculum and/or prior postdoctoral training, mentoring will be available to assist with the development of new faculty through School of Pharmacy colleagues and the UNE Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. The position requires excellent oral and written communication skills and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues at the departmental, school, college, and/or university level.
