Position Summary:

The Lead Teacher Advisor will be responsible for the supervision of Teacher Advisors. The Lead Teacher Advisor assists the administrative and instructional staff in implementing and delivering student services to the cohort of students in the grant program to facilitate academic, cultural, and social enrichment activities. This position is designed to provide mentoring services to the Public Schools grant cohort participants during the school day as well as in after-school programs in Math, English, and Science.

Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriately related field with two (2) or more years of experience; or a combination of education, training, and experience which would lead to the competencies required for the successful performance of the position’s essential duties.

Successful Candidate must have or must possess:

  • Experience mentoring students
  • Experience managing budgets

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual
  • Four (4) years of related experience
  • One (1) or more years of experience with middle and or high school students in a diverse environment:
  • Experience with school counseling, community work, or social agencies.

Example of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and the Site Coordinator or other administrator, The Lead Teacher Advisor is responsible for the following duties:

  • General management of the day-to-day activities of grant operations, including oversight of the development and maintenance of a system for student records and tracking data
  • Planning and implementing relevant workshops and field trips
  • Collaboration and communication with Public School staff and administrators
  • Collaboration and Communication with Site Coordinator and Teacher Advisors
  • Collaboration with content area teachers and Guidance Department
  • Coordinate/Conduct individual and small group mentoring sessions throughout the day
  • Managing and scheduling teacher advisors, tutors, and student assistants
  • Oversight of data input, review, and analysis of items such as daily and weekly logs of mentoring sessions with student names and objectives
  • Conduct weekly meetings with Teacher Advisors
  • Attend weekly meetings with Site Coordinators
  • Conduct professional development for Teacher Advisors
  • Assist Parent/Community Liaison.

Salary:
$32.14 hourly.
