Class Description

The purpose of this class is to perform professional level technical work that supports the research function of assigned College department or function.
Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field. Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a social science, business, or similar discipline that included course work in research design, statistics and data analysis, Master’s degree preferred. Two (2) years of work experience in institutional research or similar position required. Experience with SQL and predictive analytic technologies preferred.

Class Specific Essential Duties

  1. Develop and maintain data files.
  2. Perform analysis of quantitative and qualitative data.
  3. Act as a liaison with Information Systems group.
  4. Serve as point of contact for internal and external organizations.
  5. Prepare and analyze reports, as requested.
  6. Assist College departments, faculty, and/or staff, as required.

Position Specific Essential Duties

  1. Support administrative planning processes for credit and noncredit programs through the development of reports regarding enrollment, student demographics, special student populations, course information, and FTE information.
  2. Use current database technologies to maintain complex multi-year data files regarding student data, employee data, and evaluation data.
  3. Use software applications to run queries, analyze data, prepare reports, and present information. This includes development of tables, graphs, and narrative interpretations of information using applications such as: SPSS, MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Power BI, and publishing tools like Word and Adobe Acrobat).
  4. Produce polished management reports and dashboards with graphical and statistical components and communicate results and implications in written and oral presentations.
  5. Assist with the internal program evaluation and design of research projects related to developing appropriate metrics and measuring outcomes associated with college initiatives and accountability projects.
  6. Create and maintain documentation on data analysis and report methodology to ensure consistency across reporting cycles.
  7. Develop informational databases to support college and grant development initiatives, including the selection of needed variables and establishing appropriate database structures.
  8. Work with college staff to determine and implement solutions for grant-funded program data tracking.
  9. Continually monitor progress towards meeting the goals of grants including maintaining internal and intermediate measures of progress.
  10. Develop and submit files for external evaluation.
  11. Develop processes for ad hoc data reporting and analysis including periodic reporting of program outcomes to college personnel.
