RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary responsibility of the Information Systems Specialist I position is to maintain and participate in an active IT Support Desk which supports both the academic and administrative IT needs of students, staff and faculty using strong customer service and troubleshooting skills. This position facilitates the ongoing management of the College's IT Help Desk ticket system by reviewing, triaging, and assigning tickets to the appropriate technician or group in a timely fashion. Additionally, the position will perform technical functions within the IT department, such as password resets, ID creation, and installation and configuration of computer hardware and software as required. This position will also support other IT staff and assist with a variety of technology projects. This position will provide support to all campus locations and may be scheduled for evening and weekend hours to support the IT department functions when the College is open.
QUALIFICATIONS: An Associate’s degree in Computer Information Systems or similar field, A+
Certification, and up to, and including two years of customer service and/or help desk operations are required.
Ability to lift 25 pounds, climb, stand or sit for extended periods of time, engage in repetitive motion of the hands, wrist and fingers, speak for the purpose of expressing oneself or exchanging information with others, read for the purpose of interpreting work orders, hear for the purpose of receiving oral instructions and see for depth perception and clarity.
SALARY: Salary and benefits commensurate with the Agreement between the Maine Community College
System and the MSEA Support Services Bargaining Unit. Range 15, Salary Range ($35,796.80 - $40,310.40) .
Benefits include: Retirement in the Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS) - in lieu of Social
Security; full employee health/dental insurance and approximately 60% of cost for dependent coverage; life insurance paid by the MCCS; Vacation 12 days/year; Sick 12 days/year; and 12 paid holidays.
