The Scientist II that supports our Clinical Genomics business has responsibility for planning, organizing, and executing research studies in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team-R&D Applications. The ideal candidate should be experienced in molecular biology and assay development, be highly organized, and be enthusiastic about working in a dynamic, fast-paced, cross-functional environment. Under general supervision, the Scientist II will analyze data, interpret results, and maintain records according to prescribed standards and present data to the research and development team.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze contrived or de-identified clinical samples using lab equipment (KingFisher, Thermocyclers, MassArray systems, etc.)
- Extract and purify samples
- Amplify nucleic acid samples
- Prepare samples and perform mass spectrum analysis
- Participate in design and development of clinical products using MassArray technology in the field of hereditary analysis and oncology diagnostics
- Optimize reagent formulation, thermal cycling parameters and other workflow procedures to enhance assay performance including, but not limited to, sensitivity, specificity, and reproducibility
- Design and conduct experiments using DNA technologies such as PCR and MALDI-TOF, and analyze data to provide scientific conclusions
- Present data in PowerPoint format to communicate findings
- Create novel concepts and methods to solve technical challenges related to simplifying workflow and enhancing robustness of the tests
- Provide solutions to escalated customer complaints or CAPA related to test performance.
Qualifications/Education:
- PhD degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or closely related
- A minimum of 18 months experience with nucleic acid techniques including isolating, purifying, and analyzing genomic DNA and RNA, and experience with nucleic acid detection methods and assay development using PCR methodologies, such as primer design, real-time PCR, MassARRAY, capillary electrophoresis, and/or next-generation sequencing.
Compensation/Benefits:
The company offers a comprehensive benefits package and compensation for this position. The package includes base salary, bonus, equity, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401k/Match.
Salary for this position is $79,019.
