Job Description:

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Art and Visual Culture (AVC) in the College of Design at Iowa State University is seeking a Lecturer in Ceramics. This non-renewable position is a part-time (B-base, 9 month) appointment starting 8/16/2021 – 12/31/2021.

Design faculty members are designated educators who support the comprehensive mix of accredited and nationally ranked degree programs within the College of Design.  Our faculty help educate our students to become successful designers, planners, artists, and scholars who enhance human experience and improve the natural, social, and built environments.

Position Responsibilities:

-Teach courses as needed that could include the following: beginning through advanced level ceramics. Maintain the ceramics studio. Qualified candidates will bring a contemporary perspective on the area of ceramics including traditional and digital processes.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

-BFA in fine/visual/studio arts

Preferred Qualifications:

-Experience maintaining a ceramics studio; experience in hand building, wheel throwing, 3-D printing; experience firing electric and gas kilns and experience working with a range of issues in ceramics.

-Evidence of professional development must be presented, including exhibitions and workshops.
