Assistant Professor, Business Administration
Job Description
Tenure-Track faculty position in Business Administration, at the rank of Assistant Professor.
Responsibilities
The primary professional responsibilities of the Assistant Professor of Business Administration faculty position is to provide outstanding teaching, scholarly research, and service to the Lewis and external communities. Faculty are expected to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, and respectful collaboration and active support of the University’s Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education.
- Teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate Business Administration courses, primarily in a face-to-face format on our Romeoville and/or Oak Brook campus.
- Twenty Four (24) credit-hour teaching load per academic year. Tenure-Track faculty receive a six (6) credit hour course reduction in their initial year of appointment.
- Twelve month position with minor summer responsibilities.
- Establish and maintain office hours to assist students and foster positive interaction with colleagues and external parties.
- Advise undergraduate students on program progression and academic success. Additionally, mentor graduate and undergraduate students on professional development.
- Actively participate in College/University Committees, scholarly pursuits, student recruitment, recognition events and other various duties as assigned by the Dean and Department Chair.
- Participate in curriculum development and program assessment.
- Actively network with current business professionals, incorporating current topics and trends within the classroom.
- Grow and promote undergraduate and graduate programs within the College, University and broader community.
Minimum Qualifications
- Earned doctorate in Business Administration, Management, or other related business discipline from an AACSB accredited institution. Strong candidates who are ABD and nearing completion of their dissertation at an AACSB accredited institution prior to July 1, 2025, will be considered.
- Experience with course development and evidence of successful teaching ability at the university level.
- Adept at teaching courses in different modalities in person, hybrid, online and asynchronous
- Demonstrated ability to establish productive and collaborative working relationships with other faculty and staff.
- Experience supporting student development and professional growth beyond the classroom.
- Active engagement in research and professional development interests.
- Experience tailoring instruction to support diverse learning needs in an academic setting.
- Commitment to diversity and inclusivity through demonstrated experience working with diverse populations.
- Familiarity with Blackboard Ultra LMS.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching ethics, business law or business administration courses at the university level.
- Significant experience in a leadership role in a corporate/business environment.
- Established industry and professional network.
- Earned industry and professional certifications.
