Job Description
Focuses duties to improve student recruitment, retention, and workforce integration of Computer Information Technology students as a part of the Ohio Code Scholar grant program. Facilitates student progression plans to support transfer from secondary to post-secondary participation to advance toward graduation and transfer to universities for advanced degrees in computer technology. Typically, is assigned responsibility for performing student support coordination and administrative tasks on behalf of the Executive Director of Workforce Development but may be reassigned as required to meet the College’s supporting workload needs in Computer Information Technology. This position is funded partially or entirely by a grant and will continue to exist only as long as the grant is in place. Employment is contingent upon ongoing grant funding and performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinates activities of the Ohio Code Scholar program regarding student recruitment, retention, and workforce integration, working in the Computer Information Technology program and secondary institutions.
Fosters a relationship with students to facilitate recognizing the student’s professional goals and the best pathway to travel, considering the uniqueness of the student’s life circumstances.
Develops and maintains collegial relationships with the representatives of businesses for internships, recognizing employer needs and exploring solutions.
Coordinates referrals with SSCC team members and community services to support student success.
Supports the activities and outreach of the secondary schools by providing technical support and coordinated efforts for assistance from the Ohio Code Scholar and Computer Information Technology.
Maintains positive public relations with students, parents, the general public, and other internal and external job contacts. Provides routine information and answers general questions.
Tracks and collates statistical data to evaluate student recruitment, retention, and workforce integration trends. Tracks and reports on the outcomes of the Ohio Code Scholar and Computer Information Technology programs, including, but not limited to, student/alumni employment information, success points within the program, and conversion of students from secondary to Southern State.
Leads in planning and implementing special events to support the Ohio Code Scholar program participants and Computer Information Technology students.
Provide lab and space management of the Computer Information Technology program.
Works assigned schedule (including evenings as needed). Exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as required to meet workload demands. It will require travel.
Maintains confidentiality of records and information. Processes public records requests in accordance with policy and under the direction of the Executive Director of Workforce Development.
Provide academic and career counseling to prospective and current students.

Knowledge of: higher level of computer networking, coding, cybersecurity and robotics; organizational management, multifaceted scheduling processes, standard business office practices and procedures; higher education office administration; English grammar, spelling, sentence structure and punctuation; Microsoft Office Suite; computer operations; basic mathematics; reporting formats.

Skill in: developing a supportive student/educational partner relationship while maintaining professional boundaries; establishing plans to support the success of the unique student situation; developing work management including the coordination of multiple projects; word processing, application of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, application of adobe acrobat software; operation of standard office equipment; office organization; creating functional and professional electronic report formats; verbal and written communications.
QUALIFICATIONS
An appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is: associate’s degree in Computer Information Technology, Office Administration Technology, or closely related field and one year of related experience.
Applicant must successfully pass required background checks in accordance with Southern State Community College’s policies and procedures and applicable laws.
Ability to document identity and employment eligibility as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.
