Manager of Financial Operations

Job Description

MANAGER OF FINANCIAL OPERATIONS, MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI), to manage the MITEI finance office, including a team of seven employees, and provide support for all financial management and analysis.   Responsibilities will include presenting monthly financial reports to executive management; providing vision on financial planning and preparing multiyear forecasts; managing the financial aspects of sponsored research proposals, including supervising staff serving as financial liaisons to principal investigators and other MIT offices; preparing data for MITEI’s annual budget, allocation report to the DCAA, and FY-end closeout; overseeing financial staff review of quarterly reports generated by MITEI member relations for its founding and sustaining members; overseeing and coordinating the billing and payment of annual membership and sponsored research of current MITEI members; answering member inquires; collaborating on developing annual departmental budgets; supporting the professional development of finance staff; fostering an environment that embraces innovation, creativity, collaboration, and teamwork; and representing the executive director in all financial administrative matters as needed.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor's degree; seven years’ financial management and administration experience; financial experience at a decision-making level; advanced-level proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); knowledge of SAP or similar accounting package; excellent analytical, financial, organizational, project management, problem-solving, coaching, goal-setting, decision-making, and oral and written communication skills; ability to integrate new concepts, practices, guidelines, and policies; diplomacy, good judgment, and discretion with sensitive/confidential matters; and ability to work independently and collaboratively, influence others, facilitate consensus in situations that may involve cross-functional collaboration, and interact and communicate effectively across all levels.  PREFERRED:  master’s degree; experience with relational databases, Brio Query and/or Cognos, and a business and/or a revenue-generating program; and MIT experience.  Job #24218-10
