Social Media and Communications Coordinator

Job Description

SOCIAL MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR, Center for International Studies (CIS)-Security Studies Program (SSP), to develop and coordinate online content for the SSP.  Will manage and develop SSP's social media and online presence; contribute to and implement online communications and marketing strategies; gather information from faculty/students/alumni/staff to highlight on SSP platforms, including websites, newsletters, and news articles; synthesize and summarize a broad spectrum of news and research; write, edit, and produce communications and promotional materials; collaborate on ensuring that online strategies complement and enhance the center's goals; assist faculty, staff, and students with social media; assist with planning, organizing, and implementing special projects and events; conduct analysis, benchmarking, and reporting; and manage the recording, streaming, and photography at seminars/events, maintain an organized and searchable archive of materials, and ensure content is posted on relevant channels/outlets.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in a related field; three years’ communications experience; experience writing, researching, and conducting interviews for communications ranging from press releases and magazine stories to blog posts and social media; excellent organizational and oral and written communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; proficiency with modern publishing and web-based communication methods/tools; experience managing websites using a content management system and social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube); and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, including lnDesign, Premiere Pro, and Photoshop. Must be able to meet multiple deadlines; work collaboratively and independently; copyedit for grammar, spelling, accuracy, format, and tone; and translate complex concepts/projects into clear, compelling materials suitable for a general audience.  PREFERRED:  experience in a college/university setting; experience with design, photography, and/or video/television production; and MIT experience.  Job #24212-7

Salary range: $64,000 - 85,000/annually based on experience and internal equity

There is a hybrid schedule for this position with three days/week in the office.  Some evening and/or weekend work will also be required on occasion.
