Responsibilities*
Under the direction of the Assistant Dean for the Law School Financial Aid Office, provides support for administering financial aid for students and graduates.
? Responds to student walk-in, email, and telephone requests
? Counsels students on the application process for financial aid, loans, financial aid policies, budgeting, and repayment options
? Produces merit scholarship and need-based aid letters, reviewing files in conjunction with the Director of Financial Aid
? Processes all external and internal prize and scholarship checks
? Administers the summer work-study program, tracking time and timesheets for approximately 60 students
? Provides individual loan exit counseling to graduating students
? Provides support for the Law School's Loan Repayment Assistance Program, including processing applications and counsels students and graduates regarding same
? Presents information to large and small groups of prospective and current students on financial aid and loan repayment options
? Updates content on the web, as needed, and manages scholarship search engine
? Coordinates with externship and study-abroad students on budget and financing; coordinates with host school or externship placement on financial matters
? In coordination with the Admissions Office, recruits and counsels prospective students with respect to financing their legal education
? Supports other staff members as needed
Required Qualifications*
? Bachelor's degree
? A minimum of one year of experience in financial aid
? Office experience stressing organization, attention to detail, and accuracy; experience with administering student financial aid
? Demonstrated exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
? Excellent written and electronic communication skills
? Excellent oral communication and public speaking skills
? Experience working with and counseling students
? Strong computer skills, including experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and a student record system
? Demonstrated skill in managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Desired Qualifications*
? Financial aid experience at a professional school
? Experience assisting students with aspects of budgeting and financial literacy
? Financial aid experience working with federal loans and certifying private loans
? Experience using PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and M-Pathways
? At least 3 years of experience administering federal and institutional financial aid, including federal verification
? At least 1 year of experience administering institutional loan repayment programs
? Experience presenting complex financial aid information to large audiences
