Description

Your Impact

The Immuno-Oncology team at Poseida is developing the next wave in gene-edited, off-the-shelf allogeneic CAR-T cells to bring potentially life-saving treatments to cancer patients in need. In this role you will use your bioinformatics expertise to build NGS bioinformatics pipeline to evaluate genotoxicity. You will have the opportunity to lead and work with a stellar team of scientists and research associates and together drive forward Poseida's mission to cure patients of cancer.

Position Summary

The Immuno-Oncology Principal Scientist will play a key role in supporting our multifaceted objectives to develop CAR-T in preclinical stage that will drive Poseida's mission to cure patients of cancer. At this senior position, the Principal Scientist must work independently but also be a key thought leader dedicated to collaborative efforts and effective communication with key stakeholders. The Immuno-Oncology Principal Scientist will play a key role in exploiting our Cas-CLOVER and piggyBac platforms for genetic manipulation of T cells for the development of CAR-T. This scientist will also play a key role measuring the genotoxicity of CAR-T product.

Responsibilities

These may include but are not limited to:

  • Support the development of CAR-T cellular therapies at the preclinical stage.
  • Support the programs at IND-enabling stage.
  • Apply your background in molecular biology to evaluate genotoxicity (e.g. off-target, chromosomal rearrangement, etc) of CAR-T driven by RNA-guided nucleases (RGNs), site-specific nuclease, or transposases.
  • Work in a highly collaborative, cross-functional team environment to evaluate/plan scientific strategies, communicate with CROs, design experiments, perform experiments, analyze results, and communicate findings in team meetings.
  • Will train and assist other laboratory personnel, including new onboards, existing Scientists, Research Associates, and/or Research Technicians, while also troubleshooting with these members, as needed.

  • Expertise and proficiency with evaluating the fidelity of gene editing technology
  • Hands on experience with NGS datasets (e.g. GUIDE-seq, rhAmp-seq, UdiTaS, AMP-seq, Long-Read Sequencing) are preferred.
  • Expertise and proficiency with standard molecular biology assays (ddPCR, qPCR, RT-PCR).
  • Expert working knowledge in either Python or R.
  • Experience working in a Linux HPC environment and cloud-computing platforms (e.g. AWS).
  • Critical thinking, drawing both from an extensive knowledge of current and historical scientific literature while also integrating knowledge from professional experience.
