The Role

QuidelOrtho is excited to launch unique opportunities for Active-Duty US Service members with authorization to participate in the DoD Skillbridge program as directed by their respective command. QuidelOrtho is a DoD Skillbridge authorized participant.

DoD SkillBridge authorized Cohorts are available based on full-time open positions that align to the service member's skill sets and experience based upon the requirements of the job description.

The position will support the IT Security Operations Team by analyzing threat data, determine impact, provide response recommendations, and assist in incident response. Additionally, under the direction of Security Operations Team members, the Information Security Intern will also be responsible for the development of procedures and documentation related to IT security operations. The intern will gain hands-on experience addressing alerts and threats and contribute to projects that enhance the organization's digital resilience and operational efficiency.

This position will be working in a hybrid schedule at our San Diego, CA, or Raritan, NJ site.

The Responsibilities

  • On a day-to-day basis, monitor the IT security infrastructure, performing initial analysis on alerts.
  • Follow established procedures for analysis or triage, escalating to more senior analysts as requirement.
  • Process, analyze, and respond to staff-submitted phishing emails and security inquiries.
  • Support the team in monitoring and evaluation, including tracking, collating, and analyzing data on security incidents and other ongoing security projects.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Shadowing senior security analysts for technical training to develop information security technical skills.
  • Review your training plan with your workgroups SkillBridge Program Manager and the direct report Manager on a monthly basis to ensure that training aligns with partner needs and overall product strategy.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

The Individual

Required:

  • Active Duty US Service members authorized to participate in the DoD Skillbridge program.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; preferred bachelor's degree in Information Technology.
  • Fundamental understanding of information security concepts in one or more of the following areas: operating system administration for Windows and/or UNIX servers, desktop Windows and Mac systems, application and database security, network access control systems, network and Internet security, or computer or network forensics.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity tools and understanding of network security and cloud computing concepts.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a rapidly evolving information security field.
  • Strong communication abilities for effective collaboration with the team and mentor.
  • High level of personal integrity, ability to professionally handle confidential matters, and reflect appropriate level of judgment and maturity.
  • Capacity to work on projects independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to present findings and suggestions in a clear and concise manner.

Preferred:

  • Security+, CCNA, Splunk Fundamentals, Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate, CySA+, Powershell, Python

The Work Environment

No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials is required. 30% of time in meetings, working with team, or talking on the phone, 70% of the time at the desk on computer, doing analytical work. Minimal travel required. Travel includes airplane, automobile travel and overnight hotel.

Salary Transparency

This is a military transitional program that does not provide compensation through QuidelOrtho. If selected for full-time employment with QuidelOrtho upon completion of SkillBridge you will be eligible for a compensation package and benefits provided by the company.
