Your Role

The Health Equity team will create cross functional and cross sectoral partnerships to fundamentally change the health care system to that of a health system: one that is focused on prevention, is affordable, relevant, and equitable. The Program Manager, Principal, Health Equity will report to the Sr Manager, Health Equity. In this role you will be responsible for identifying and using data as well as promising practices to implement and adapt programs within Blue Shield's advancing health equity portfolio and strategies. The Principal, Health Equity will specifically focus on centering racial, ethnic, linguistic, sexual orientation and gender identification equity in meeting regulatory and accreditation requirements to ensure Blue Shield is providing the most equitable and inclusive care and services to all members. Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Operate at a strategic business level to ensures projects/programs are in line with Blue Shield of California strategic goals
  • Design and oversee comprehensive health equity programs, ensuring they are scalable and sustainable
  • Consult with all levels including senior management, make recommendations, and influence decision-making
  • Leverage cross-functional internal and external relationships to drive initiatives forward
  • Plan and implement multiple and extremely complex projects/programs spanning across business areas
  • Determine key business issues, develop effective action plans and implement to successful conclusion
  • Build and implement plans to align with promising practices at the local, state and national levels
  • Identify data sources internally and externally to further our understanding of ways to address inequities
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to build prioritization processes and identify old and emerging trends
  • Develop key partnerships with community leaders, employee resource groups and other stakeholders to ensure efforts are built equitable
  • Connect initiatives and partners to align, reduce inefficiencies and level up impact inside and outside the business.
  • Identify and utilize internal and external data sources to analyze health disparities and inform decision-making
  • Co-develop metrics and reporting systems to track progress and outcomes of health equity initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements to provide the most equitable care and services offered in the market
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of health equity programs and initiatives, making data-driven adjustments as needed
  • Stay current with health equity research, trends, and best practices to continuously improve the organization's approach

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Typically, requires a college degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years of prior relevant experience
  • 5 or more years of experience working in a data-driven community or public health role with a focus on health equity preferred. Excellent rapport and trust building skills across multiple populations with experience working locally and at the state and/or national level preferred
  • Working operational knowledge of moving data into action alongside practices, payers, and community preferred
  • Knowledge of promising practices and latest theory for moving towards health equity preferred
  • Skilled in data analytics for demonstrating return on investment, individual and community impact and cost of healthcare savings

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 136400.00 to $ 204600.00 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
