Position Summary

 

The Human Resources Specialist aids the Human Resources Office which is responsible for the various aspects of the human resources functions of the College. The Human Resources Specialist provides information and assistance to college employees and the general public regarding human resources activities, prepares various correspondence related to area of assignment, and coordinates activities related to area of assignment, and performs a variety of tasks requiring specialized knowledge related to human resources management.

  • Receive, visitors, potential applicants, and college personnel in a prompt and courteous manner and provide information as required
  • Generate data and reports from Argos
  • Provide training and guidance, collaboration, and support to all operating departments of the college to ensure effective compliance with legal statutes, regulations, and college policies
  • Document and maintain records of mandatory training
  • Assist in processing assigned employment application materials received, including entering information into Banner
  • Assist in processing assigned employment application materials received, including entering information into NEOED.
  • Maintain assigned Human Resources Banner screens.
  • Advertise job vacancies on the College website, newspapers and other media outlets
  • Assist with creating reports, letter of appointments, and job descriptions
  • Processes assigned new employee employment forms, to include new hire data (E-verify, criminal background investigations and New Hire Reports)
  • Assist with New Hire Orientation
  • Provide employment verifications to external entities
  • Process appropriate Argos reports as needed
  • Assist with payroll processes to include entering assigned monthly payroll
  • Prepare information packets on prospective employees for the Advisory Committee
  • Administer assigned pre-employment tests and conduct reference checks
  • Participate in ACCA Human Resources Management Association activities
  • Coordinates Wellness Screenings and Benefits Fairs
  • Serve on college committees
  • Serve as the point of contact in the absence of the Director of Human Resources
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and work with highly sensitive data and information is required
  • Assume other professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Human Resources and/or President

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Five (5) years of full-time administrative office experience in areas such as Human Resources, Administration, Customer Service, Record Keeping, or Data Entry.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Management, or Business Administration.
  • Experience in the community college setting.
  • Experience with Banner ERP (HR/Payroll module).
  • Experience with NEOGOV or NEOED talent acquisition management system.

Other Information:
The Selection Committee will screen all applicants for the position. The Committee will select applicants for in-person interviews which may consist of question/answer session and /or skills assessments. Applicants must adhere to the College’s prescribed interview schedule and must travel at their own expense.
