The University of Notre Dame is searching for a talented, mission-driven Assistant Director, Annual Giving Programs to join the team and lead critical campaigns, initiatives, and events that inspire donors to action and reach Notre Dame’s unrestricted revenue and donor count goals.
In this role, you will join a gritty, fun, and collaborative team who embrace thinking differently. You will fight every day to advance the mission of Notre Dame through raising critical funds that empower Notre Dame students to be forces for good in the world.
The Assistant Director, Annual Giving Programs, is a key member of the Annual Giving team at one of the nation’s leading Universities. The Assistant Director will focus on digital giving campaigns (Giving Tuesday and Notre Dame Day), and will also develop and execute several affinity-driven fundraising strategies.
We’re looking for a creative wizard who speaks multi-channel marketing and communicates compellingly through strong writing and great relationships. This role will help reconnect alumni back to their alma mater and inspire them to deepen their relationship through charitable giving.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Digital Giving Initiatives and Notre Dame Day:
- Develop and execute annual digital fundraising strategies independently, focusing on donor acquisition and retention through integrated marketing communications.
- Lead all Notre Dame Day strategies, including outreach to participating causes, communication planning for all audiences, Challenge Fund use, engaging campus partners, and more.
- Create and implement gamification strategies for Notre Dame Day Challenge Funds to drive competition and inspire giving.
- Inform branding and re-branding decisions to develop compelling creative content for Notre Dame Day and other campaigns.
- Drive campaign execution and results through a highly collaborative, working group model.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for internal stakeholders and partners involved in campaign execution.
- Coordinate direct mail solicitations to complement online strategies.
- Ensure best practices are developed and followed, staying ahead of industry trends.
Campaign Strategy and Execution:
- Plan and execute major annual fundraising campaigns such as Friday Night Bash, Welcome Weekend, and other events.
- Collaborate with the Storytelling and Marketing Operations teams to create event collateral, promotional materials, and digital content.
- Strategize and develop new fundraising campaigns that can be implemented annually.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for internal stakeholders and partners involved in campaign execution.
Parent Program:
- Independently execute newsletters and parent-specific fundraising efforts.

Minimum Qualifications
- 1-3 years work experience
- Experience or working knowledge in storytelling, branding, and/or integrated marketing communication campaigns
- Demonstrated success in tracking and analyzing metrics and results
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Exceptional grammar and proofreading skills with attention to detail
- A commitment to Catholic education and the mission and values of the University of Notre Dame, including a dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion
- Dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education
- Experience and success in achieving ambitious goals and metrics
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree; Marketing or related field
- 3-5 years of related work experience in Annual Giving or Non-Profit or related direct marketing role
- Proven track record of cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors
