About SUNY Broome Community College:

SUNY Broome Community College is a comprehensive community college located in the scenic Southern Tier of New York. The College has over 7,700 students annually, and services over 6,100 students per semester in Liberal Arts, Business & Professional Studies, Health Sciences, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs. An additional 1,600 students are served through the College's workforce and non-credit programs.

 


Job Description:

SUNY Broome Community College's Chemistry Department is seeking candidates for part-time adjunct instructors who are qualified to teach chemistry courses.  

These positions are filled on an as-needed basis and are on-going recruitment efforts.  Applicants are contacted/hired for assignments based on college needs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Creating Syllabus.
  • Teaching under the guidance of the department chairperson and general chemistry coordinator.
  • Helping students master course content.
  • Assessing student learning outcomes.
  • Utilizing current learning management system technology (Brightspace) in the performance of job duties.
  • Maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Fulfilling other duties as outlined in the Faculty contract.

 


Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a closely related field is required. A Master's or PhD degree is preferred. 

Applicants who have demonstrated ability to teach General Chemistry and Food Science courses will receive special consideration.  

Applicants should be available for morning or afternoon teaching assignments.
